Spinal Research

On the October 1st, I attended my first Funeral. I had tried not to imagine what the first one would be like, but never did I think that it would be the Funeral of Dan, a 23 year old school friend who was an amazing rugby player, tragically left paralysed from the chest down after a Scrum collapsed on him 18 months ago whilst training with Nuneaton RFC.

I'm sure you are all aware of the story by now as it has had huge media coverage this past few days. Dan felt he couldn't go on living and made the decision to travel to a Swiss Euthanasia clinic and end his life last month.

Dan's family have since set up Dan James Trust in a bid to raise as much money for Spinal Research as possible. As I'm sure you will all agree, this is a very worthy cause and I am planning to do a fundraising event in Dan's memory. I am currently looking into organising a sponsored Skydive. I am hoping to raise as much awareness as possible and of course as much money as I can too! If there is any way you can help?

I am hoping you share my views in wanting to raise awareness for Spinal Research and hopefully making a difference to someones life in the hope they don't feel the need to go to the extremes Dan felt he had to.

Please email me if you feel you can assist in any way.

Kind Regards
